The Ugly Truth About Attraction: How to Present Your Best Self

As you’re about to find out, the truth, ironically, is quite ugly. Why are we so drawn to some people and not others? I’ve met people who seem perfect on paper, yet there’s no spark. Others might not appear as ideal, but I find myself wanting to get to know them. How does this work? This topic has been studied extensively, and I conducted my own Instagram survey, which, coupled with my personal experiences, leads me here. Let's dive into the elements that shape attraction and how you can present your best self to the world and yourself.

1. The Power of Dressing Well 👗

In my extensive, trustworthy Instagram study with around 9000 participants:
  • 73% said the way someone dresses affects their attractiveness
  • 24% said it affects attractiveness "a little"
  • 10% said “not really”
I’m part of the 73%. Here’s why:
  • Look clean. BE CLEAN. Look like you give a damn and actually GIVE a damn.
  • Wear what fits your body shape right now, not the shape you wish you had.
  • Work with your strengths — shoulders, calves, waist, height — everyone has them.
  • Accessories like jewelry can totally upgrade your looks. Even a simple bracelet or small earrings can make a big difference.
When you feel good in the right outfit, it changes the way you carry yourself.

2. Maintaining Correct Posture 🚶‍♂️

Will I mention posture in every other video? Yes, because it’s crucial:
  • Slouching changes the impression you give entirely.
  • Straighten up to look and feel more confident.
Try filming yourself when you’re slouching and then when you’re sitting up straight. Notice the difference in your demeanor.

3. Skin Care 🌟

For the love of god or whatever you believe in, moisturise your lips!
  • Crusty lips are a big distraction and a turn-off.
It happens to the best of us, but don’t just let it be.

4. Hair 💁‍♀️

HAIR can literally change your entire appearance.
  • Sometimes straight hair makes me feel younger, while wavy hair makes me feel like OH she’s HER!
  • Don’t be afraid to experiment. Find what makes you feel your best.

5. Grooming ✂️

A patchy beard and overgrown brows don’t make the top 3 list of things people find attractive.
  • I feel and look cleaner when I’ve given my brows a bit of a trim.

6. Health 🏋️‍♂️

Attraction is essentially signs of good health and good genes.
  • Look healthy.
  • Act healthy.
  • Be as healthy as you can — orally, physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally.
This looks different for everyone, but it’s crucial.

7. Confidence 💪

Universally, one of the most magnetic traits:
  • I've made a couple of videos talking about confidence already, so check them out instead of repeating myself.
Everyone deals with challenges and confidence in their journey. No one should feel alone in their thoughts or challenges.

8. Smelling Good 🌸

The obvious isn’t actually obvious:
  • Simply showering, wearing deodorant, and perhaps a spritz of perfume or cologne can make a world of difference.
  • Or just not smelling like you live in Mount Crumpit with the Grinch!
No one wants to be remembered for poor hygiene.

9. A Good Attitude 😊

A good attitude looks good on anyone, and a bad one will make anyone look bad.
  • Negativity is unattractive, whether it’s complaining, victim mentality, or gossiping.
  • Having a joy for life can be seen in people's eyes, their walk, their talk, and their genuine smile.
Feeling good about yourself is magnetic as opposed to someone who walks around moody and thinks the world hates them.

10. Humour 😄

Humour was a recurring theme in my Instagram study about attractiveness:
  • Someone who’s not too easily offended.
  • Someone who can take a joke and throw one back at you.
  • Someone with wit and who picks up on your sarcasm.
We’re attracted to people who make us feel relaxed and like we can be ourselves.

11. Mannerisms 💬

Using little words like "please" and "thank you" makes a significant difference:
  • Do they hold the door?
  • Are they aware of their surroundings?
It’s obvious which one is more attractive.
