A Simple and Practical Guide to Customizing Your Lock Screen

Why Your Lock Screen Matters 💡

Every time you take your device out of your pocket, the lock screen is the first thing you set your eyes upon. Why can't lock screens be simple, easy on the eyes, and practical at the same time? Let's change that now! The lock screen you're about to create is based on Widget Locker, with functionalities that allow you to swipe right to access key apps and swipe left for quick access to the camera. It’s practical without the clutter.

Apps You Need 🚀

To get started, you’ll need to download a few apps. The best part? They are all free from the Play Store:

• Widget Locker: The basis of the lock screen.
• Ultimate Custom Widget: For creating the large square clock.
• Minimalistic Text: For the written clock underneath the square clock.

Now, let’s go step-by-step on how to set everything up.

Step-by-Step Guide to Creating Your Custom Lock Screen 🔧

Downloading and Installing Apps 📲

1. Open Google Play Store and search for Widget Locker. Download and install the app.
2. Next, search for Ultimate Custom Widget. Download and install it as well.
3. Finally, download Minimalistic Text to have the written clock underneath the large square clock.

Setting Up Widget Locker 🛠

1. Open Widget Locker.
2. Click on the top right to enter the menu.
3. Go to the first category Buttons and Inputs. Under this section, make sure these two options are selected:
   • Disable Android Lock Screen
   • Advanced Configuration
4. Exit out of Buttons and Inputs and click on Look and Feel.
5. In Look and Feel, ensure Alternative Wallpaper is unchecked.
6. Click on Background Tint and adjust it for better readability on lighter backgrounds.
7. Exit out of Background Tint and below it, click on Layout.
8. Set the grid to 12x12 for the finest level of adjustment.
9. If you want your lock screen to operate in landscape mode, you can adjust the Screen Orientation from here.
10. Make sure to tick these last two options:
    • Use Widgets
    • Hide Notification Bar

Adding Widgets to Your Home Screen 🧩

1. Long press on the home screen and scroll down to Widgets.
2. Select Minimalistic Text and choose a 4x1 Horizontal Layout.
3. Click Create. Within Minimalistic Text, ensure the Background Option is unchecked.
4. Navigate to the Text Style tab along the top and click on the Accented Text. Make sure Bold is unchecked.
5. After completing these steps, exit the app. You should have a clock exactly like mine.

Creating the Big Square Clock 🕑

1. Click on the home screen widget and select a 4x4 Layout.
2. Click Create and scroll down to the clock you want. I am using the white one, but you can choose any style you prefer.
3. Resize the clock as desired.

Adding the Custom Unlock Slider 🎚

1. To add a custom unlock slider, long press on the home screen and click on Custom Slider.
2. Select the last option that says Get Themes with XDA in brackets.
3. Open it with your favorite browser. You’ll be greeted with a web page. Click on the middle link as indicated.
4. Download the file from the link, which may take you through a few pages. The final link is on MediaFire.
5. Don’t worry, the file is completely safe. Once downloaded, go to your notification bar and click on the file.
6. This will open up Widget Locker, and you’ll have your custom slider right there. Uncheck Show Clock and click Done on the top left.
7. Now you have your custom slider! Resize and place it as desired.
